Seems to be the theme in this series of work. The king/ The ruler/ The elite- His majesty has all one could aspire, but Alas! None of it belongs to him. even though he belongs to royalty but life is not complete for him. Eyes are in persistent wait for someone. The signatory bird- it seems is the only companion to the lonely soul. In his works titled “Shikast”, he construes the trait of defeat. This defeat, failure, setback, outfight is subtly portrayed in the gestures of the subject. There is another correlated meaning of the word Shikast, broken or fractured which is again evident in the dealing of the subject in the painting of this series. These works share certain expressive elements, such as structure, theme, and tone.
